Gelato’s structure, business, and supply chains
Gelato is a global production platform headed by our Norwegian parent company Gelato ASA. Gelato ASA’ headquarters are located in Oslo, Norway. We have over 200 employees worldwide and operate in Sweden, Spain, Estonia, Russia, China, India, Japan, Brazil, Chile, USA and the UK. We have offices in Barcelona, Boston, London, Madrid, Moscow, Mumbai, Santiago, São Paulo, Shanghai, Stockholm, Tallinn, and Tokyo and have a global annual turnover of 60M$.
Our mission is to empower the rapidly growing “creator economy” with local production and delivery of customized items to every consumer on the planet.
Our curated marketplace of more than 100 local production partners lowers the barriers for entrepreneurs around the world to share their creativity with a global audience and resolves the last mile for anyone that would like to sell their customized products online. Local production means lower costs, faster delivery, reduced carbon emission, and no upfront investments - allowing creators to focus all their time and energy on creating, selling, and growing.
Our supply chains include print houses, production and distribution partners, cloud providers, software partners and consultants.
Gelato’s policies on modern slavery and human trafficking
Gelato is committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. Our Code of Conduct reflects our commitment to act ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships, and to implement and enforce effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.
##How we ensure that our values are upheld
To ensure that contractors and everyone in our supply chain comply with our values, we have a rigorous supply chain compliance programme in place. The program consists of a process for identifying, assessing and monitoring risks depending on different factors such as the location in which our suppliers operate, and a process for mitigating those risks.
We have a dedicated compliance team with representatives from the following departments: Legal, Procurement, Security and Sustainability.
Identifying and managing risk
We recognise that the countries in which Gelato operates offer different levels of legal protection to workers in respect to employment laws, discrimination and health and safety. In particular, we identify specific country risks where modern slavery is highest and these countries are a priority for our audits and our supply chain compliance programme.
How Gelatos employees are trained
To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chain and our business, we provide training to our staff during on-boarding of new employees and on regular town-halls.
Measuring the effectiveness of our actions
To measure how effective we have been to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any part of our business or supply chains, we monitor and track the percentage of our staff trained in identifying modern slavery and human trafficking as well as the percentage of suppliers assessed and undertaken annual audits.
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes Gelato's anti-slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending December 2021. It was approved by the board on October 8th, 2021.
