Position summary

We are looking for a top-performing Business Manager to create, manage and sustain an exceptional customer experience and deliver the best-in-class performance of our Wall-Art and Home Decor categories. This person will be empowered to lead end-to-end decision making for their product categories: creating the vision, articulating the strategy, developing the plan, working with Product Managers and development teams on delivery (web and mobile app), measuring and being ultimately accountable for performance.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will work alongside Product Managers, marketing channel owners and business leaders around a compelling future vision for your product categories. Once the vision is aligned (and refined), you will define the plan to deliver on the vision: ambitious iterative product and sales development, reflecting a thoughtful prioritization of effort. You will work alongside different teams on a day-to-day basis, making decisions, answering questions, tracking competitors and closely managing the performance of your product categories to ensure they meet targets.

You will define success criteria for everything that is developed and built for your product categories. You will obsess over the data and always be working to gain more insight to drive better outcomes.

Products are at the core of what we do at Gelato. Therefore, this is a highly visible role that requires working closely with the SVP of Optimalprint, Product Managers and product teams, development teams and Network operational teams with the following responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the existing customer base for your product categories, leveraging web and mobile app analytics, customer research, customer complaints and other existing data sources.
  • Benchmark competitive offerings and obtain insights from how best-in-class players approach challenges for their product categories – what we at Gelato call ‘growing the apple tree’.
  • Define a compelling future vision for your product categories and own the plan to deliver on the vision: ambitious iterative product and sales development, reflecting a thoughtful prioritization of effort.
  • Negotiate and agree challenging customer and revenue targets, and then be responsible for driving and innovating the category experience to achieve those business goals.
  • Work alongside Product Managers, channel owners, development teams and business leaders on a day-to-day basis, making decisions, answering questions, tracking competitors and closely managing the performance of your product categories to ensure they meet targets.
  • Define success criteria for your product categories, and build the insights required to measure it effectively. Obsess over the data and always be working to gain more insight to drive better outcomes.

We would like to see evidence of the following in your profile:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Business Development, Product Management or other business role, preferably in a fast-moving B2C/e-commerce environment.
  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Engineering (MBA from a leading institution is a plus).
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product category throughout its lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to develop product strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to identify, tailor, and present complex topics to a variety of audiences.
